Meet the Presenters
Alison Hughes is director of the Rural Health Office in the Mel and Enid Zuckerman
Arizona College of Public Health at the University of Arizona also
directs the Arizona Rural Hospital Flexibility Program. Her professional
interests focus on promotion of innovative programs to increase access
to quality health care for rural and communities.
Lynda Bergsma, PhD, directs the HRSA Office of Rural Health Policy
funded State Office of Rural Health Program in the Rural Health Office,
and has extensive experience providing grant application assistance and
review for both Rural Health Outreach and Rural Network Development grants.
Dr. Bergsma is also an assistant professor in the Mel and Enid Zuckerman
Arizona College of Public Health.
Greg Bonk has worked over the past twenty years to assist rural
communities and special needs service providers in managing change
through collaborative efforts. He has distilled his practical,
business-oriented approaches into numerous publications, including,
most recently, Principles of Rural Health Network Development and Management.
Robin Keith began her career as a critical care nurse and then moved
into hospital administration. Working with rural hospital administrators
and the Nevada Office of Rural Health, Robin helped establish Nevada
Rural Hospital Partners (NRHP) in 1987. She served as President
until 1992 and returned to that position in August 2000.
Laverne Dallas is a grant writer and health planner of the Hopi Tribe.
The Hopi Regional Health Care Network is a 2003 recipient of a Rural
Health Network Development Planning Grant from the Office of Rural Health
Policy. She worked in Hopi behavioral and mental health services throughout
the 1990's.
Joyce Hospodar, Rural Health Office, works with the rural hospitals
seeking Critical Access Hospital designation and provides technical
assistance to them in updating their strategic plans and implementing
performance improvement initiatives, i.e., Balanced Scorecard framework.
